Momentum Watch

A net flow number tells you where a firm stands. Momentum tells you where it is headed. We split the last 12 months in half and measured which direction every firm's advisor flow is moving: who is heating up, who is cooling off, and whose story is changing faster than the headline number suggests.

The market pulse

Reported advisor moves per month across the entire industry over the last 12 months.

Direction of travel

Heating up

Biggest improvement in net flow, second half vs first half.

Cooling off

Biggest deterioration in net flow, second half vs first half.

Swing = second-half net flow minus first-half net flow. "Heating up" includes firms still losing advisors overall whose losses are slowing - direction matters as much as level. Covers the firms with 10+ moves in the window.
Check any firm's trajectory

Momentum is a signal. Your decision deserves more than a signal.

Continuum is platform-agnostic and advisors never pay us. We help you read what a firm's trajectory means for your practice before you move - or before you stay.

Source & Method
Swing (direction of travel)
A firm's net advisor flow in the second half of the window minus its net flow in the first half. Positive = the trajectory is improving; negative = it is deteriorating. Direction matters as much as level - a firm can be losing advisors overall while its losses slow.
First half / second half
The window split at its midpoint. Each half covers six months, so the comparison is like-for-like.
Momentum is a signal
Momentum within a single window is an early signal, not an established trend, and swings at lower-activity firms can be noisy. Treat it as a question worth asking, not an answer.

All advisor moves reported in the last 12 months - a rolling trailing-12-month view. The exact dates appear in the header above.
Directional
These figures describe broad patterns of advisor movement, not audited counts. Use them to spot trends and questions worth exploring, not as a precise scorecard.
